Introducing OrbitalMed, your commercial spaceflight medical support team
Mission & Vision
Human spaceflight is entering a new era. Government agencies, private companies, and research institutions are accelerating missions beyond low-Earth orbit, building stations, lunar habitats, and long-duration programs. Each mission introduces a non-negotiable need for continuous, reliable, and specialized healthcare. Orbital Health & Medical Services (OrbitalMed | OM) exists to protect human health across microgravity environments – and to return those benefits home.
Opportunity
Human spaceflight is entering a new era. Government agencies, commercial operators, and international partners are building stations, habitats, and long-duration missions that require continuous, specialized healthcare. Human space exploration is entering a new phase, one defined by commercial access, deeper missions, and the presence of people beyond the traditional astronaut corps. Private companies like SpaceX, Axiom, Sierra Space and Blue Origin are sending humans to orbit. NASA is preparing for Artemis missions to the Moon. National security and civil agencies are prioritizing astronaut readiness and long-duration health. Space tourism, microgravity manufacturing, and orbital research are no longer theoretical – they are operational.
Yet the systems that support astronaut health remain fragmented and reactive. Most solutions were built for government programs, not for today’s multi-sector reality.
Our Solution
OrbitalMed was founded by former NASA astronaut physicians, flight surgeons and aerospace industry managers to provide a new generation of government and commercial space flyers with the medical oversight that ensures a healthy flight to space. These leaders have leveraged their medical training and spaceflight experience to provide a new generation of space travelers with the medical expertise that ensures a safe spaceflight and enhances the on-orbit experience.
OrbitalMed ushers the prospective space flyer through a streamlined, but thorough, health assessment process leading to medical certification for spaceflight. In a new era of Space Travel. We provide continuity of care before, during, and after the flight.
